More good news! The head physician of the pediatric ICU said he sees "dramatic improvement" in Zack's lungs per this morning's x-ray. Zack is on a steady healing course and it's definitely working for him.  Taking Zack off the ECMO machine is in the foreseeable future and will hopefully happen some time this week, as soon as his lungs show they're ready to oxygenate his blood on their own.

Zack had lots of visitors this weekend, including his uncles Miguel and Michael, Grandma and Grandpa, Brian Armstrong, Suzy Happ and Zack's teacher, Donna Blaser.

We are rejoicing in hearing this great news!
I sent an email to about 40 of our friends to pray for Zack, and I am getting responses from them AND the people they sent the request to. Many people are fervently praying for him and will continue to do so.
Okay, so now for the really important stuff...
Did you hear about the restaurant on the moon? Great food, no atmosphere.
Blessings to you both!
XO,
Desiree

Way to go Zack! You are a totally cool warrior. Your mom isn't too bad at that either.
Hey, did anyone there tell you that ECMO is a secret nano-technology that turns your body into a super-machine at a sub-cellular level one blood cell at a time? Yep, that's right. It also enlarges your heart so there is more room to get loved.(I'm a health care professional so I get the inside scoop on these things.) When you get outa there you just might get to serve mankind by being a super-hero of some kind. I can't wait to hear what super-powers you wind up with and watch how you will change the world.
Meanwhile, you are still in our prayers and in our hearts.
hugs,
Tim and Maryl

Zack and Maria,
I've never been in to prayer and all that sort of thing but I wanted to let you know that I think of you two all the time. And when I think of you two I see these tough warriors who know how to handle a sword and tough times like nothing I have ever known. I suppose that in itself is a sort of prayer. I dunno, but I do know that I have a lot of admiration and faith in your your valiance. Stay strong.
Your friend, Jan (Gaelan's Dad)

Zack
I echo what many people have already said. You are a true Warrior, with a Warriors heart and a Warriors spirit.
Here's to seeing you up around very soon.
Tony
PS - I am still in need of a Bocce' partner!

It was great to see you guys. Our flight home was uneventful compared to our last trip home from Portland! Let Zack know that everyone here loves him, we love you too Maria, let us know if we can do anything at all for you. I'll see you again soon.

Hey Zack! - Have you ever played Mario Kart Wii? What about Lego Star Wars (for the Wii)? Maybe you could come over sometime and we could play. After, of course, I get permission from my mom for you to come over, and from Dashiell so we can play his games. If I know my brother, which I do, he will either 1.) say as long as he gets to play to. 2.)say no. or 3.)he and his best friend Rowan (our neighbor) will suddenly want to play, and won't let us play. Or maybe he will be nice and choose 4.) let us play without him bothering us, not even a single poke. (that'll be the day). - GO SPARTA!!!! - Déjà

Zack,

Gabriel and the rest of us are off to Mexico on Thursday. I want you out of that hospital and ready to play by the time we get back. We've been playing this cool blow gun game that Gaelen came up with and I think you need to try it. I'll see you soon, but you will be in my thoughts every day until we get back to see you in person.
